April 29, 2025 Newsletter

With the regular season behind us and championship season looming, there is going to be a lot of information that will go out – some with quick turnaround needs. We appreciate, as always, your flexibility and willingness/ability to jump in when asked. It truly takes a village and we appreciate all that you do for the team and your individual athlete(s)!

1. WHAT’S THE DEAL WITH STATES BEING ON 2 WEEKENDS?
Because there are so many events, the Virginia Scholastic Rowing Championship (aka States) has always been divided into 2 weekends to accommodate all of the racing. Athletes should be aware which weekend they are racing, but to be clear:
SATURDAY, MAY 3: WN8+, WN4+, MFr8+, M3V
SATURDAY, MAY 10: 1Vs, 2Vs, WJr4+

Athletes and families are encouraged to come out and cheer on the day you are not racing!! Also, the Friday night dinners are for ALL athletes, not just those that are racing the next day.

2. STOTESBURY DRAFT LINE UP IS AVAILABLE
All race entries, to include alternates, are made at the discretion of the Woodson Rowing coach staff. Athletes should address questions to their coaches directly. If an athlete is on the list and CANNOT attend, they must contact the coaches ASAP as it can potentially impact the assigned boat’s ability to compete. You can find the draft lineups here: Draft 2025 Stotesbury Roster.

IF YOUR ATHLETE IS ON THE ROSTER, then registration will be available on Thursday, May 1. The cost, per athlete, is $650. This includes transportation, hotel, and all meals for the athlete. Please bring any questions to tomorrow’s Zoom call.

3. STOTESBURY INFORMATION CALL TOMORROW, 4/30 at 8P
Please get cozy with your phone or computer with us tomorrow, Wednesday, April 30 at 8:00pm to discuss all things Stotesbury! The Zoom call information has been posted in Slack, so please check there or send an email to [email protected] to get the log in details. There is NOT a planned presentation for this meeting, it will be a free flow of questions and answers. If you have a question but cannot attend, please send your question(s) to Jenn McRobbie via Slack, or the email above, to be answered on the call. The call will be recorded and posted in Slack after the meeting.

To stay up-to-date on this quickly developing regatta, make sure you join the #2025-stotesbury channel on Slack and continue to watch our webpage: https://woodsonrowing.org/stotesbury/

4. STOTESBURY VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
Stotesbury Volunteering sign up genius is live. There are lots of volunteer opportunities available whether you are traveling to Philadelphia with the team or not! Please note that if you sign up to be a boat chaperone, the team has a room reserved for you at the kids hotel! So this is the perfect job for someone who hasn’t booked accommodations yet!  Parents are responsible for paying for their own room. Once you sign up on the sign-up genius to be a boat parent – or otherwise confirm with Lisa Veigel that you want to do it – we will reserve one of the rooms for you and will be in touch later about payment logistics.
