ACTION ITEMS FOR THIS WEEK

  • For Friday night dinners: if you haven’t already, please send a note to [email protected] if your athlete has any dietary restrictions or religious exemptions.
  • Prior to this weekend’s regatta:
    • Need a Takedown Helper on 3/16: VASRA Regatta Tasks Sign Up.
    • Complete USRowing Registration Requirements (outstanding members have been notified via email).

1. POLAR BEAR REGATTA VOLUNTEER NEEDED

Every family is expected to do AT LEAST one regatta job for the season. Gentle reminder that if you sign up, you’re expected to volunteer. If it is a regatta weekend and you are unable to fulfill your duties, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Lisa Veigel, so that she can try to help you find a replacement for your shift.

We still must fill the Takedown Helper position at the Polar Bear Regatta. No prior experience necessary! Sign up here: VASRA Regatta Tasks Sign Up.

2. CHIPOTLE RESTAURANT NIGHT, WEDNESDAY, 3/13

Please join us this Wednesday, March 13 from 4-8p at Chipotle to raise money for the team! The address is 9506 Main Street, Fairfax, VA 22031.

  • Your online ordering code is: 9ENYMEW. Please note that fundraiser online ordering is only valid during the scheduled date, time, and at the assigned restaurant. Ordering delivery for fundraisers is not permitted at this time.
  • If you’re visiting in person, make sure you show the fundraiser flyer (will be posted on our social media on Wednesday) OR tell the cashier at checkout that you are there for a fundraiser before you pay! If you don’t tell the cashier, we won’t get credit for the sale.

3. FRIDAY NIGHT TEAM DINNERS BEGIN FRI., 3/15

Friday Night Team Dinners begin March 15! Athletes gather at Woodson AFTER Friday practices to enjoy dinner together before each regatta. For our first team dinner, athletes should meet in Cafeteria A around 7:15p. Food will be served as soon as most of the athletes arrive. Carpools should discuss arrangements for returning home around 8:30p, as all athletes should be dropped off at the school after practice.

Contact [email protected] with any dietary restrictions by Thursday, Mar 14.

All volunteer slots are filled for this dinner. THANK YOU ALL! Feel free to check out this link for future team dinner volunteer needs: Team Dinner Volunteer Positions.

4. *IMPORTANT* US ROWING REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

USRowing eWaivers and SafeSport must be completed before athletes can participate in regattas. Emails have been sent to those who still have outstanding requirements to complete. Students 18 and over may need to complete Safe Sport training as well. Email Jenn Ros with questions: [email protected].

To access your athlete’s USRowing account, please log in with your student’s birth date and the registering parent’s email. Our club code is DURXS.

5. ATTENDANCE AT POLAR BEAR REGATTA THIS WEEKEND

Stay tuned for ALL you need to know about the Polar Bear Regatta this weekend. Specific details (such as parking, timing and line ups) will be sent out by this Friday. Please note that while no novice boats row at this regatta, novice athletes are highly encouraged to attend, if available. Regattas are a unique experience and familiarity with how they run will help the athletes as they prepare for their first regatta, next weekend. Learning the mechanics and rhythms of a regatta before they participate builds confidence and experience. Plus, it’s fun to watch your teammates race without dealing with your own nerves!

6. CHUCKWAGON WORKDAY RESCHEDULED FOR SUN. 3/17, 11:30a

Due to this weekend’s less-than-ideal weather, the ChuckWagon workday has been rescheduled for Sunday, 3/17 at 11:30a. Hopefully the weather will cooperate this time. Check out the sign up for more information:  ChuckWagon Workday
