1. BOARD POSITION

We currently have an opening for the V.P. Team Liaison and Activities. This critical role helps organize many of our events, coordinates travel to practices and to our away regattas. In this position, you would be a member of the booster club executive committee, which fulfills your team volunteer obligation!! Please consider this important role and know you won’t be going it alone. Contact Tarek at [email protected] to learn more about the role.

2. WINTER CONDITIONING¶

Winter Conditioning began last week. For this week, conditioning will only take place on MONDAY, Nov 21 and TUESDAY, Nov 22. Athletes are encouraged to work out on their own for the remainder of the week! Winter conditioning will resume on Monday, November 28.

The schedule for winter conditioning is below. Changes will be communicated via Slack:

                                 Men’s Team        Women’s Team:
Mondays:             5:00-7:00p              3:30-5:30p
Tuesdays:             3:30-5:30p              5:00-7:00p
Wednesdays:     5:00-7:00p            3:30-5:30p
Thursdays:           3:30-5:30p              5:00-7:00p
Fridays*:                3:30-5:30p              3:30-5:30p

* Both teams practice together on Fridays

REMEMBER: before you participate, all athletes must have a VHSL physical dated after May 1, 2022 turned into WTW Athletic Trainer (hard copies delivered to Rm. C158, soft copies emailed to the athletic trainer, [email protected]). Athletes should also be registered with the Woodson Athletic System

3. SECOND TAG DAY: SATURDAY, DEC 3¶

Tag Day is the most important athlete-driven fundraiser of the year.
Our first day was a rousing success; we raised $8,800 toward our $20,000 goal!!!
Special shout out to the following teams:
3rd place: Mr. Fallon’s team, $864 raised
2nd place: Ms. Goldfaden’s team, $884 raised
1st place: Mr. Byman’s team, $1,020 raised!

To reach our goal, we need ALL HANDS ON DECK for the second Tag Day, SATURDAY, DEC 3.
SIGN UP FOR TAG DAYS NOW

On Tag Days, athletes (transported by volunteer parents) walk door-to-door in our local neighborhoods. They are given scripts to help them confidently tell Woodson families about the sport of rowing, how we receive no FCPS funds, that we rely on dues and donations — and then ask for their support. Everyone who participates benefits. Athletes get volunteer credits while spending time with teammates. Parents get volunteer credits while getting to know other parents and athletes!

ROWERS MUST BRING this form signed by your parents when you come to Tag Days or email to [email protected] ahead of time. This form only needs to be submitted once, so if you provided one on Nov 19, you do not need to fill out the form again.

4. REGISTRATION FOR SPRING

Registration for crew is a multi-step process. All parts are vital to ensure your rower’s eligibility to participate in crew. To ensure your rower is eligible to practice, please follow the guidance provided on the registration portion of the website. $50 Early Bird discount if you register before Dec. 15th!

Review the presentation from our parent information session for more information.

Still have questions? Reach out to our membership team at [email protected]

5. DO YOU LIKE TO ENTERTAIN?

Plans are taking shape for an informal parent-only potluck, after the holiday season, in January. This is a great way for new families to meet returning athlete parents and learn about crew life. If you would like to host or be part of the planning, please reach out to Tarek at [email protected].
